Whatsapp New Feature— “Goodbye Message”

I have been using WhatsApp for quite a while now, and recently, I left my office WhatsApp group as I was leaving the company. When I sent my “Goodbye message” and exited the group, I could not receive the well-wishes that others sent. This got me thinking: why isn’t there a feature for this? Introducing such a feature would enable people to interact in a more meaningful way. So, here is my analysis of this “Goodbye Message” feature.

As mentioned in the index article, since we are taking a design-first approach to these “New Features”, let’s first look at the User Stories & Use Cases for this new feature.

Use Cases

• UC01: A user should be able to write a goodbye message when leaving a group.
• UC02: A user should be able to view replies to the goodbye message even if they are no longer in the group.
