Why companies do not validate e-mail address before registration?

If you have been following my posts, you may have read an article I published earlier this year about my experience of un-subscribing my email ID from a website where someone had registered it without my consent.

This bring me to todays topic, why some companies do not validate the e-mail address before registering users to their website? This is even worst when the companies in question are financial institutions (like in my un-subscribe article) and banks (as in this article).

So let’s expose this malpractice through this article, and hopefully the bank in question takes some lessons in user experience from this.

Background information
Bank:
RBL Bank (Based in India)
Problem: My namesake applied for a CC from this bank using my e-mail ID.

The bank in question today is, RBL Bank. On 20th Nov 2021, I got this email through which I learned that someone (who has same name as mine) applied for a credit card and provided my email ID. The bank did not verify the email ID and sent an email which landed in my mail box. The mail was about a scheduled document pickup and included the full address of this person (super scary that a bank would send out personal information
