Adobe XD and Figma both are used for design, prototyping and collaboration. They both are one of the best platforms around for online User experience. Let’s see what made me switch from Adobe XD to Figma.

Real time collaboration between designer, developer or any other stakeholder.

In Real time collaboration, a very much like Google Docs we can share a link with any project partner or client and work on the project at the same time. This feature allows different project members to check the status of the work which provides better transparency.

Hassle-free hand off.

Adobe XD has separate specs sheets system, which allows us to provide a link for others to access and we have to republish the spec sheet every time we make an update to our design. On the other hand Figma has the specs embedded within the file and we can also update in the real time.

Supported Platforms

Figma offers browser-based application that supports editing in any browser that supports WebGL, This means users can view designs on desktop browsers. Figma also allows us to download it’s application for windows/MAC/Linux. On the other hand Adobe XD doesn’t have it’s browser-based application.

Sharing Document

While Figma and Adobe XD both have document sharing features. Figma allows us to share a document by sending a link to other users to view or edit the document in their browser. Figma offers four levels of sharing permissions: viewer, editor, admin or owner. We can set these permissions at the team, project and document level. Adobe XD lets us send email messages to other users, allowing them to view the shared links. We need to make sure the peoples must have adobe creative cloud account with whom we are sending the link with that they can view it.

Design Features

Figma has better and more functionalities than Adobe XD like vector tools. This list goes on and on to text options, layer effects, etc. On the other hand Adobe XD lacks lots of design features that are in Figma.
