Why Juniors Designers Can’t Find Work

6 min readMar 18, 2025

Confused person with a scribbled face surrounded by question marks, illustrating the struggle of junior designers in finding work.

As someone who’s been in the UI/UX design industry for over six years, I experienced a significant change in the environment.

What was once a specialized industry with many opportunities has turned into a crowded, competitive market.

Also, even though there is a growing need for designers, being hired has become an impossible task of unrealistic expectations, overpopulation, and faulty recruiting systems.

The good news is that it’s not impossible. Junior designers can do well in this demanding environment if they use the right strategies.

I’ll explain the reasons behind junior designers’ challenges in the article, give helpful suggestions, and even give recruiting managers some pointers on how to best use the potential of new talent.

This is a call-to-action graphic encouraging users to follow the Instagram account @rehan.designs. The bold text, emojis, and arrow emphasize urgency and excitement, making it an engaging promotional post for personal branding and audience growth.
