Why TikTok Is Better Than Other Platforms
It’s easy to see why the app has such loyal users
If you’ve never spent any significant amount of time on TikTok, you probably don’t understand why so many people are dismayed at the looming prospect of a TikTok ban. This can be especially confusing when other companies have already made popular clones of the app, such as Instagram Reels. However, a short look at some key design features, and it readily becomes clear why TikTok is better than its competitors.
Clip Length
TikTok has variable length to its clips. TikTok videos can be anywhere from three seconds to 60 minutes long. Meanwhile, TikTok’s direct competitors, such as Instagram Reels and Youtube Shorts can only be up to three minutes long. This greatly changes the experience of using one app versus the others.
You have a lot of short-form, entertaining videos on TikTok — the type that give you a quick laugh before you scroll on from them — but it also has serious, in-depth content. This mix is not only more stimulating, as it’s less monotonous, but it also allows the app to serve a more substantial function.
