In a world obsessed with efficiency, sometimes the most effective solutions lurk in the shadows of the unexpected. Take VanMoof, a Dutch bicycle company whose sleek e-bikes faced a fatal flaw — delivery damage. Rough couriers, mistaking high-tech for hardy, treated the bikes like any other parcel, leaving VanMoof with a trail of broken spokes and dented handlebars. The solution? Not sturdier packaging, nor gentler couriers, but a stroke of genius that redefined “thinking outside the box”: disguising their bikes as… TVs.

This is the story of how VanMoof outsmarted the challenge, proving that sometimes, the most unconventional path leads to the smoothest ride. So, buckle up and prepare to be surprised as we delve into the world of bike-in-TV-clothing and the 80% drop in damage that followed.

Dutch bicycle company VanMoof faced a significant problem: their bikes were damaged during online delivery. Rough courier handling was taking its toll, and VanMoof was losing money and frustrating customers.

The company decided to get creative. They came up with the idea of packaging their bikes as if they were televisions. The thinking was that couriers would be more careful with a box labeled “Fragile: Plasma TV” than they would be with a regular bike box.
