At first, the world of design can be a perplexing experience. We know that cause we have been there ourselves. The confusion, anxiety, and insecurity about your place in this lesser-known and vast field can be overwhelming.
Which is WHY we are here!
Welcome to the first self-written and self-edited publication by the designers of Design Discipline, IIITDMJ.
We are a group of curious and creative people, who are trying to discover and create a path for ourselves. Our generalist approach towards learning helps us explore multiple design fields and formulate the right solutions and interventions for problems through design thinking and innovation, without limiting ourselves to a mere job description.
The publication aims to widen the general understanding of the field of design so that you may discover a purpose and place for yourself.
How will we do that?
We believe that one of the best ways to learn something is through stories of people who have been in the same place and position as we are in right now. In this publication, we will present the personal experiences and work of our community — the students and alumni of Design Discipline.
Unlike a LinkedIn or Behance profile, the stories in the publication will bring you closer to the real experiences and journey of the storyteller, for you to derive your own insights about their work and the field they work in. You may choose to further connect with the writer or let the story direct your path as a designer.
Rest assured we will keep all stories authentic; We will not present any groundless claims, lies, plagiarized content nor present any (self) promotional content.
What makes this publication?
We will be curating stories about design from our community. We are excited to know what your story has to tell us!
We invite comic artists, illustrators, graphic designers, and photographers from our community to contribute through relevant media for the articles.
We also have slots open for current students from our community to form the curation team for the publication.
We encourage you to suggest prompts and topics that will help us tailor the right content for you, and contribute to the greater purpose of the publication.
You may also send us your specific queries relevant to the Design Discipline at IIITDMJ, and we will be happy to answer them, to the best of our knowledge and experience.
