Design friction is a design practice producing speculative and critical scenarios for the upcoming presents. We deconstruct realities to build new perspectives.
Here, we will document and discuss our projects, methodologies, tools and role as designers.

Our work is articulated around six structuring notions:

  1. Exploring frictions, as we engage design on an agonistic journey in order to reveal systemic dependencies and to cover blind spots of foresight studies.
  2. Prototyping utopias, as we create concrete visions envisaging preferable worlds and provide a starting point for discussion on our expectations for the evolution of society.
  3. Documentating debates, as we combine our production with a follow-up on the triggered discussions.
  4. Opening processes, as we experiment and document our homemade processes and methodologies, letting them open for reuse and comment.
  5. Seeking out collaboration, as we cross opinions and expertises to shake our beliefs and to enrich our own scenarios.
  6. Celebrating reflexivity, as we share our thoughts and insights about the practice of speculative and critical design methodologies.

Enjoy the reading.
