IBM Cloud File Storage for VPC wins 2024 Stratus Award for Cloud Computing
The Stratus Award judges selected IBM Cloud File Storage for Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) out of hundreds of product designs as the Infrastructure as a Service category winner.
In today’s fast-paced digital world, businesses across all industries are looking for storage solutions that are not only quick and reliable, but also scalable and secure. This demand is becoming critical as the volume of data being generated worldwide is expected to skyrocket to 175 zettabytes by 2025, or about 341 billion 512GB iPhones filled to capacity. To serve the demand for enterprise customers, we launched a brand-new service: IBM Cloud File Storage for VPC. It delivers a powerful, user-friendly solution that effortlessly integrates with customers’ business operations. With this service, enterprise customers can store their data seamlessly and persistently while maintaining the highest levels of data security, availability, and durability. File Storage for VPC empowers users to harness the full potential of their digital assets at scale.
“IBM’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of cloud technology is truly commendable. Their innovative approach and exceptional contributions to the industry make them a worthy recipient of the Stratus Award.”

Differentiated by design
Throughout the product development process, we put careful consideration into crafting the experience by testing the product with real users to ensure it met their needs.
- When selecting a cloud file storage solution, our customers prioritize reliability, security, and performance. However, a key differentiator that sets us apart from other providers is our focus on the seamless integration between each of our cloud VPC offerings. We understand that each customer has unique requirements, and we designed IBM Cloud File Storage for VPC to work in harmony with our other compute, networking, and storage products. We empower our users to build robust, customized solutions tailored to their specific needs.
- At the heart of IBM Cloud File Storage for VPC lies a user-centered experience. Whether users prefer to interact through our intuitive graphical user interface (GUI), harness the flexibility of our API, or use the efficiency of our command-line interface (CLI), they can seamlessly navigate and manage their file storage alongside our other cloud services.
Built to expect the unexpected
If a natural disaster strikes or important data accidentally gets deleted, customers face a race against time to restore normal operations and prevent further business disruptions. Our replication and failover experiences are designed to be as easy to use as possible. In 3 clicks, customers can fail over to their data copy. We know that during unexpected outages, the customers’ highest priorities are to get things back online as soon as possible. We’ve crafted an experience purposely designed to display key information that only requires a few steps to get the job done. Customers can restore data using automatic copies saved in a different region in minutes, not hours.
Secure to the core
At IBM, ensuring the security of our customers’ enterprise-grade data is paramount. We designed our new File Storage service so that it streamlines the process of enabling secure connections while vastly reducing the friction associated with first-time setup. Every file share is encrypted by default, but if customers require an even higher level of protection, they can fully customize their file shares to enable the highest level of data protection on the market. Banks, hospitals, and global critical infrastructure can use next-generation, quantum-safe encryption with just a few clicks.
“We are thrilled to receive this global recognition from the Business Intelligence Group. This award validates our unwavering commitment to delivering cutting-edge cloud solutions that empower our customers to secure, store, and recover their data. I am incredibly proud of our team for their tireless efforts and dedication to client experience excellence. This award is a testament to our collective passion for driving positive change through technology.”
