I've always hated talking about art. I kept my mouth shut when people looked at my paintings. I wanted my paintings to speak for themselves.

When I started designing, I also kept my mouth shut. Surely the best logo will speak for itself?

Comic Sans is a trap

I was wrong. For some reason, the worst logo kept getting picked. One time, I throw in a Comic Sans logo for fun and, sure enough, it was the crowd favorite.

I was eating dinner with my friend/mentor when something clicked: “Bad designers get frustrated, Good designers educate.”

You spend all day thinking about the best solutions. Every design decisions you made should have a reason. Sharing your rational is the only way to get anyone to see from your perspective.

You can never control what others see or feel from your creations. However, you have full control over how you communicate. You are the spokesperson for what you believe in.

So next time you get frustrated, say to yourself, “I’m a good designer and good designers educate.”
