Perfect Scale by Ansgar and Benedikt-Schulz

A visual exploration of what scales mean for your drafting

Review
By browsing through examples of drafts at different scales, the reader can get an intuitive sense of the right scale for his/her project. The scales covered are 1:2000, 1:500, 1:200, 1:100, 1:50, 1:20, 1:5, 1:1 and each section regroups several examples within the given scale.

Inspired Project

In the NICU Reading Program / Experiential Retail project, I built the entire model around the figurine’s proportions. Choosing the right scale upfront would impact the scope and resolution of the model. This book was helpful in providing me a point of reference, looking at people in space for various scales. In the end, I selected a 1:25 scale.
