Image Placeholders?

How about Placekittens?

There’s all types of image placeholder sites. There’s Dummy Image, Placehold.it, flickrholdr, and lorem pixel.

Dummy Image and Placehold.it generate flat placeholder images, which is absolutely necessary for certain things. I’ve used Dummy Image for a very long time.

However, sometimes you need a more organic looking placeholder image. Lorem Pixel and flickrholdr do this nicely, and I’ve used both of them before, too.

placekitten. it even does color images, too.

Lately, I’ve been using Placekitten, because it provides a lovely image with gradients, real shadows, and other “organic” things. Plus, it only generates placeholder images of kittens. And most people like kittens, except for those with allergies, they’re just generally cute to look at.

Placekitten was actually inspired by Placehold.it, according to the Placekitten creator, Mark James.
