What you are is what you have been. What you’ll be is what you do now.

Buddha —

Unlearning is intending to let go of what we have already acquired. It is about being open to and exploring new ways of life.

Benefit we get from unlearning is recognising and stopping the stifling mindset which is obviously unintentional when we feel we know. This leads to our mental blockage of new innovative ideas to come.

The beginning of the initial weeks of unlearning at The Design Village started with a friendly introduction with the faculty and management followed by some interesting activities aimed at building rapport with fellow students and faculty.

Those activities were treasure hunt, know your villager and tree plantation, an activity for environmental cause with a sowing of a sapling which symbolises our journey in the institution.

Our self introspection activity, “Make Yourself” was conducted for representing oneself in a recipe form. Some team building and strategy making activity were also conducted for the students.

The students made a small visit to the nearby mall “DLF Mall Of India” in NOIDA.

The next day was followed by a photo-shoot depicting one’s personality. The students propped some cut-out of their name initials for the same.

Apart from these introduction & orientation days activities, the students actively participated in formation of various co-curricular clubs like; Dance, Music, Art, Photography and Sports which would enhance their all-round personality along with their academics.

Students got the opportunity of interacting with design industry’s renowned personalities like Ms. Sandhya Raman- Fashion Designer, Mukul Goyal- Product Designer and Navneet Garg- Founder and Industry Dean of The Design Village.

The closure of the unlearning period was done with a workshop with Dr. Alok Bajpai- Psychiatrist aiming at reconstructing the student’s perception of looking at the world they live in.

The students made visit to Craft Museum and Dilli Haat with the purpose of sketching according to their specialisation.

THANK YOU
