After listening to the podcast, I have a better understanding of what storytelling is. Before listening to the podcast , I simply thought storytelling is just to tell the story to the others, however, Lee-Sean Huang, a designer and storyteller, cofounder of Foossa, a community-centered design consultancy, tells about storytelling and its role in the design process, and shares his perspective on the intersection between design and democracy that inspires me a lot and brings me to a new level of perceiving storytelling.

One thing Lee points out is that people always tend to associate storytelling with a drama, a movie or a play. But Lee explains that storyteling actually comes before everthing. They collect stories first. In other words, they will do the reaseach on the traget group, the potential customer supposedly, they will have them fully digged up knowing what they are like and what their taste like. And then it comes to the design part. He also mentions that storytelling help us understand systems. He provides a service design project to support his argument. Storytelling, in another word, is the packing and unpacking of datas and ideas under the design, first unpack the original language ( datas or design laguage) behind, grind them down to the basic logic, and then try to interpret the laguage and pack them to the extent that potential customers are able to perceive.

In a word, the ideas behind storytelling are also ideas of design thinking which intentionally convey abstract concepts with clear structures and deliverablity.
