Who would have thought that this semester went by so quickly? Not me, haha. I initially chose this course because it sounded nice, but after a quick read, I realized its content. I learned that this course isn’t just theoretical stuff, it’s much more. It turned out to be one of my favourite courses that I had in this master here at Nova. It’s not only super hands-on but also has an impact on people around us. The path, as some of my colleagues would describe it, wasn’t always clear. But I think that is the beauty of Design Thinking. Not knowing the future but having the possibility to explore different outcomes in a creative way in a short period of time.

Through this course, I was able to reflect on myself and further escape the bubble we live in. It was a path of understanding and finding the right fit to problems that are close to us and concern people around us.

So what does this mean for me? The three key steps of this journey that I learned were:

Feedback is the key to success: Hearing something you hope you’d rather not hear often leads to an AHA- moment where you can step back and look at the problem from a different point of view.

Teamwork makes the dream work: As we had a very diverse group with a different set of skills, we were able to help each other if someone was stuck in a certain point of view. And more importantly, in the end,. It’s not the company that gives you fulfillment in the job, it’s the people around you and the people you are able to help.

The path isn’t always straight: Looking back at the last semester, seeing the ups-and downs we had, but in the end, if there is a will, there is a way.

The journey:

What I really enjoyed about the Design Thinking Course — was this Lean Thinking Methodology. We had a framework of how the Design Thinking Progress works, but a lot of it was exploring our own creativity. I am sure

Final Thoughts

It was a pleasure seeing you that such a great team of motivated people (props to you Ms. Fayard, Beatriz & Rita, for enabling such an inclusive and open minded workspace 👏) can really make a course unforgetable and one that I will remember when I am 50 :).

Over this semester, I have learned a few new key that I am sure will help me in my future career path. One of those things was that ups & downs belong to life. And in the end it’s the memories we make and the people we help.
