When I was sitting at the coffee shop and having an espresso cup, I saw the couple next to my table shouting at each other.

“You don't understand me! I worked for a whole day at office and just wanna take a rest! Why don't you just stop complain complain complain…” “Did you care about our home? just work, you just have work in you mind! me? you don't care about!”

That’s why I want to write this article.

Nowadays, our world is full of conflict and problems. The way to change it? Start from actions.

Design Thinking as a Mindset

In short, a Design Thinking Mindset means Empathy, Creative Confidence, and Experiment Spirit. Usually, we talk about it in the idea development and value creation workshop, but we can implement it in our daily lives. When we talk a lot about the mindset, we should also think about making it an action. The following chat shows you the secret:

ACTION of a specific mindset

Ask more, express yourself more, and try more.

Ask More? Do you discover that most out decision are based on our intuition but not really logical thinking. As the famous book “Think Fast and Slow” says, our brains are lazy, and we intended to believe what we know before. Therefore, we always made a decision first and tried to find something to prove it. However, we make many decisions every day, even in our daily life. Especially in our community, we make the decision when we are talking with each other. Such as whether we trust each other or what we are joining in saying.

If we don't ask more, how can we know others feeling?

Unfortunately, conflict comes from misunderstanding if we don't ask.

Therefore, if you wanna have a better world without misunderstanding and conflict, you should ask more others feeling and thoughts, and it is Empathy, an awareness of everyone is different.

Express yourself more? The same as “ask more”, but in a proactive perspective. Sometimes we don't become aware of the problem. We don't become aware of the difference among everyone, and we assume that there is no need to explain too much. Also, when we are growing, we afraid to be “looks like stupid”. Yes, it just “looks like”. You are not really stupid, and the most stupid thing is we believe in what we just assumed.

We need a face.

So, we don't ask stupid questions, and we don't tell the stupid truth.

Actually, if you don't tell, no one knows.

Try More? It brings the solution. We have a complex problem in our world, and we think it is difficult to solve, such as climate change and global warming. In a relationship as well, the difference between man and woman is a big issue also. Instead of trying stupid solution, it is common to see that we spend much time discussing why it is a big problem and how we “can’t” solve it.

The key to finding a good solution is accepting the bad one.

Failure is not only the mother of success, and it is part of success. Without trying something stupid, we cannot see the possibility. The more solution you try, the higher possibility to get the right one.

A Better World means Better than Before

That means a better world? the improvement. I will not say that there is a perfect world. The world is changing every moment. In term of context, the expectations and reality will be different. The only possibility is to look for the better one and improve our life.

Then, what makes a Bad World? Conflict and misunderstanding.

As human being, we are social animals. We have to live with each other and build a relationship and community. If we don't ask for more about other feelings, express ourselves, and try more solutions when facing problems, a bad world is coming.
