When BlackBerry initially debuted, it was seen as creative mainly because it brought about a new idea which was mobile email. When they were first introduced in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the majority of mobile devices had limited email and internet access capabilities and were mostly used for phone calls. BlackBerry made a difference in this by providing a gadget made especially for business travelers who needed to check their email constantly.

The reason for choosing BlackBerry as a creative endeavor is because it disrupted the market in the innovation it was providing which included:

  1. Physical Keyboard: The physical keyboard on BlackBerry devices offered a more efficient typing experience. This made it popular among business users who needed to respond to emails quickly and accurately.
  2. Push Email Technology: BlackBerry’s push email technology allowed users to receive emails instantly, without the need to manually check for new messages. BlackBerry devices seamlessly integrated with corporate email systems, such as Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes, making it easier for professionals to access their work email.
  3. Innovative Design: BlackBerry devices had a distinctive design with a full QWERTY keyboard and a compact form factor. This design was both functional and stylish, appealing to professionals who wanted a professional-looking device.

I believe this ties down to the concept we learned that great service and product experiences are about relationships between the people and the product. Blackberry laid the foundation stone where we as humans are now co dependent on our smartphones and sometimes have a deeper relation with the device than our fellow humans around us
