Hotels are starting to use delivery robots extensively.

Typically, customers will either have items delivered by hotel staff or picked up from the concierge. Deliveries can now be completed automatically, and AI-based delivery robots enable more guest services to be offered through their systems. Additionally, hotel room phones are linked to the built-in system, allowing guests to be notified via calls if a delivery arrives.

Although delivery robots are not new, the application of these technologies in the hospitality sector is a potentially disruptive innovation for the industry. A hotel service team can work with fewer employees and spend more time improving the quality of other service tasks.

Customers become accustomed to these automated services and expect more from other companies and industries as a result. For example, it’s not uncommon to see food delivery robot tests on college campuses these days. Therefore, delivery robots bring together technology and market development to create new opportunities that may spark an evolution in the industry.
