The first 20 years of the 21st century are the 20 years in which computer technology has had the greatest impact on art and design. With the help of the network, artworks have broken the time and space limitations, so that the creativity, works, and artists have been more widely disseminated, and the popularization of mobile terminals has lowered the threshold of art creation. At the same time, under the hot trend of the digital collection market in the past two years, many art media and art creators have stifled the hood of creativity in this readily available art atmosphere. Numerous plagiarism and theft chaotic phenomena have emerged for the sake of earning traffic and squeezing into the public’s field of vision. In the face of this ocean of information, Instagram artist FvckRender has an extraordinary artistic expression and creative concept.

FvckRender (Render to Death), formerly known as Frederic Duquette, born in 1991, is a digital artist from Montreal, Canada.

A junior high school dropout, Frederic Duquette worked as a restaurant waiter and an amateur bicycle racer before teaching himself and entering the field of digital art in 2015. He is known for his 3D looping wave-shaped alien-themed works inspired by architectural geometry. Employing the tools of Cinema 4D (the industry standard for 3D modeling) to create futuristic landscapes, crystal assemblages, and a variety of illusory renderings, Duquette has created a wide range of solo and commercial projects, particularly in the NFT realm in just five years of being in the digital art field.

Fvckrender has created several epic digital artworks — from arid sci-fi landscapes to gorgeous still lifes, his work is highly futuristic, surrealistic, and rich in symbolism. The iconic mandala snake, for example, represents manipulation, and the flower represents emotion; as these recurring visual metaphors gather in another world, the artist has also developed his virtual world. In this world, he displays the artwork exactly as he chooses — creating immersive online environments.

In 2021, FvckRender and HypeArt released their first joint NFT project on the media platform, inspired by HYPEBEAST iconic paperback magazine cover, named “fvck hypebeast //”.

For the reinterpretation of the HYPEBEAST magazine cover, FvckRender used elements from its metaverse, such as the crystal flower, the hands, and the chain. The flower symbolizes growth, while the hands represent generosity. Finally, the chain evokes the human spirit of community and co-creativity. When all of these elements are combined, the resulting animation is a magnetism from the surreal realm of science and technology that continues to evolve in support of digital art.

Over the years, FvckRender’s work has continued to emerge, with fame and skill going hand in hand with daily persistence, attracting several fashion brands and artists to commission him for collaborations, including such well-known labels as Dior and Lil Nas X, as well as Supreme, who commissioned him to create an original graphic that appeared on the brand’s Spring 2020 T-shirt.

Fvckrender’s creative process is also very intuitive, in which he is inspired by nature, by light. “I take a lot of pictures of how light interacts with its surroundings,” he explains. “Then I change it in a way that doesn’t make sense in real life.” This focus on illusion resonates throughout his practice.

Fvckrender seems to have been through it all: school dropouts, near-death moments, paralysis, depression. But through 3D, Fvckrender has created a brave new world, giving it a structural framework as well as a highly personalized style and demonstrating his genius craftsmanship in the field of digital art.
