2. lessons, loops and lots of coding
This week brought in a lot of learning and a lot of concepts. Before the classes even started we were working on our first assignment on conversational agents through Wizard Of Oz and let’s just say, that was a lot of hard work. But towards the end, our video (Project S.A.L) turned out exactly how we wanted it to and we were super happy about that!
We also had an interim exhibition where we showed our videos to different HCD students and faculty and received a lot of good feedback. For a few people, the video was too advanced and we were told that a lot of things were happening. For coding our prototype we were told to maybe take a step back and make a flow chart of how the events works and ponder over which interactions and conversations we want to prioritise.
During the studio sessions, we learnt how to build our conversational prototypes through python and also got to know about Monty Python, the comedy sketch group after which python was named because the creator loved the show too much which was super cool.
Through the readings, the significance of multiple prototyping was made clear to me. Most times various iterations of the same thing yield better results than just one iteration. It also helps us think more creatively and out of the box.
Sometimes, getting all steps wrong helps us to know what not to do and we finally get it right! I’m excited to use this in my code for prototyping S.A.L, our conversational agent.
