Everyone should know how to program a computer because it teaches you how to think. ~Steve Jobs

A lot of us come with brilliant ideas but we need to drop them immediately because we don’t know how to make it tangible. We have the perfect thought process but we don’t know the way to climb the stairs of execution. Creative coding can be termed as one of the most essential tools for prototyping. It can be used for not only executing our ideas tangibly but also exploring it profusely. I feel as a designer we don’t need to write rigorous codes but we should know about it to make clever decisions. John Johnson quoted “First, solve the problem. Then, write the code.’’ To write a code is like solving a problem. From last two years, I always wanted to learn to code but I never had the courage and patience to practice it daily. Only after completing my two years in college, I realized that my thinking and ideating skills are flawless but l still lack in making my ideas work. Learning about programming from its history to its relevance in the present world helped us to visualize the versatile nature of its practice. From Mother of all demos, Cross Pad XP to Data 2000 all of them set as the examples of brilliance, which were discovered years ago. Going through all these amazing inventions helped me to gain a wider perspective on the endless possibilities with program and code.

Working on the terminal was much easier than expected. It was simple to comprehend and learn the basic commands on it. We did simple tasks of making a directory, changing a directory and navigating through our files etc. I feel to write a code digitally is always an advantage as it highlights the error in the code that helps us rectify our mistakes immediately. I found myself constantly engaged in exploring terminal and trying out the different possibilities with these commands. Now, I am making it as a ritual to devote some time daily on coding to not lose the hang of it. The energy of the class and the spontaneous discussions helped us to keep our heads up and also we were able to clear our doubts quickly.

Now coming to Conversational bots. They were always my subject of interest. They have the efficiency and smartness to make our lives easier. Getting a suitable assistance at the right time helps us function smoothly. People now days are comfortable with Siri, Google Home, Echo, Alexa, Google Now and other voice-based interfaces. All of them will make you feel that the conversation is happening with a real person. Artificial intelligence is the trend today. People are accepting and following it to make their lives easier. The videos watched in class helped us to bring some ideas for our assignment. Overall the week was a package of learning and exploring.

Looking forward to implying my knowledge into the assignments!
