Being someone who loves coding, I was very eager to know how this class is going to be like. It began with a question: “Is coding important for designers?” — I think that it is important for designers so that they can take their ideas and concepts to the next level. Also I think that knowing how to code could help in our designs and prototypes too.

Getting to know about the history of computing was intriguing and fascinating. I was surprised to learn how some ideas and technologies were there from such a long time but no one knew about it until recently. Buxton’s Collection and ELIZA are an excellent example of that. Digging into the history of computing made me realize how unaware I am about these things and that it is important to know these things. It also developed a sense of respect towards these inventions.

Learning basic codes using Cygwin was much of a fun, it eased out the tension that everyone had regarding coding. Though we learnt very basic commands, I found CUI extremely interesting and simple and I am looking forward to explore it more.

Our A1 was very interesting, I had never done a project or an assignment like this before. Even the concept of Wizards of Oz was cool. The first assignment itself compelled us to look at so many aspects, I am hoping that our project turns out to be good. Now I am very excited to know what our next two assignments are going to be like.
