Build better VR and AR apps by exploring and collaborating on concepts with low-fidelity rapid prototyping using clay, LEGO bricks, and paper.

Workshop Abstract

“Play lies at the core of creativity and innovation.”

— Stuart Brown M.D.

Get hands on with clay, LEGO bricks, and paper to explore and communicate virtual and augmented reality ideas, and start collaborating on your concept within minutes.

Learn how to take ideas from your head and onto paper using V/AR sketch sheets, expand them into storyboards, and build a model of the experiences using materials from a rapid prototyping kit. Get tips on how to best use your phone to capture your V/AR concepts through space and time.

Target Audience

The target audience for this presentation includes designers, developers, marketers, entrepreneurs. Basically anyone who is thinking of building a VR or AR app.

“I think it really opened up our minds from the get-go, and broke down the sometimes overly serious discussions we have about things that should be fun, fluid and valuable.”

— Play Before Pixels Participant

Key Things You’ll Learn

At the end of the session you will be able to run your own rapid V/AR concept prototyping workshop, to take ideas from your head and onto paper using V/AR sketch sheets, expand them into storyboards, and build a model of the experiences using materials from a rapid prototyping kit. You will know how to best use your phone to capture and share your V/AR concepts through space and time.

“Going from the sketch to the clay model helps you realize all the key objects and interactions you need for your concept. This means you have a better plan before starting up a digital tool such as Unity for your first digital prototype.”
