Here are screenshots from the NYC DOT 2019 Mobility Report that reflect the complexity of the system. The data is presented in a range of formats from text-based explanations, bullet points, and key takeaways; to visual charts, maps, and graphs that quantify mobility at various scales. The data visuals shared below do not share common visual vocabularies, information architecture, data models and do not visualize causality or interrelationships

As we begin to giga-map the system with basic materials (whiteboard, one marker, and several conversations via email, group text, Google Hangouts, and in-person), we can also start to imagine what methods, tools and techniques we will develop over the next few weeks to explore leverage points where a design intervention can address both an infrastructural problem, as well as a techno-socio problem.
