NewWoof: Swipe Right on Man’s Best Friend

By Olivia Testa, Tristan Ketterer, Will Osborn, and Alex Suarez

As the clock struck 7pm, Amanda’s neighborhood burst into applause. Three months into the global pandemic lockdown, this daily applause was a sign of continued appreciation for essential workers. For Amanda, this celebration served as a bittersweet reminder of the companionship that the pandemic stripped away from her. Like many at this time, Amanda yearned for a new furry friend. However, as a young college grad new to Boston she was not familiar with the shelters in her area.

On the other side of the country, Mike was feeling the same way. He missed spending time with his friends and grandkids, and these lonely times sparked a desire to find a canine pal. However, at 60 years old, Mike had to be more particular about his dog, especially when it came to breed and size, which proved to be a challenge for connecting with his local shelters.

Hundreds of dogs remain in shelters everyday, as hundreds of dog lovers seek to find their forever fluffy companion. Here is where NewWoof helps.

NewWoof is a mobile platform that matches dogs in shelters with those looking to adopt. After setting your trait preferences and location boundaries, users simply swipe through the app looking for their perfect match. On the other hand, Shelters have the peace of mind knowing that owners are a good match for the dogs they are applying for, expediting and simplifying the application process.

Our business model is based on an advertising revenue plan by incorporating semi-interstitial ads into our users dog feed. We provide an optimal space for specific pet-related brands to advertise to a focused demographic. Our ads are priced competitively with similarly engaging platforms like Tinder.

At NewWoof, we believe our first responsibility is to the shelter dogs that our services and products aim to support. We are dedicated to connecting loving owners with their dream new pup and dogs with a loving new roof.
