Designium AR measurement APP “Measuranimal” realses the first Public Test
Designium is a Tech x Design company focused on developing new AR‧XR experiences. The AR APP “Measuranimal” development is using Niantic offical Lightship ARDK. The app allows you to select various objects as units of measurement to measure the environment around you. It has been released on TestFlight (※), and the Public Test starts on December 21, 2022.
※ TestFlight is an online service for testing of mobile applications, currently owned by Apple Inc. and only offered to developers within the iOS Developer Program.
■ What’s “Measuranimal”？
“Measuranimal” is an interesting measurement tool that allows you to enjoy the process of measuring length, area, and volume with animals, people, and food as measurement units in AR.
How many giraffes would equal the height of that building?
How many pieces of sushi can you put on the table?
How many cats can fit in that bed?
How many friends can this room accommodate?

The app can be used for a variety of purposes, from measuring the size of various objects, to even measuring the height of buildings by scanning yourself, family and friends. Measure your surroundings with various objects, not only have fun, life will be more interesting！
■ “Measuranimal” Development Process
“ I want to develop an APP in a different way ! “
Designium PM — Mr. Hata visited Yenstar, a video production company of which he is a director, and launched this joint project. Instead of deciding the specs of the APP at the stage of idea generation, the content of the app is generated based on “ what would happen if this idea was made into a commercial video ? ”
We started by asking Yenstar’s movie director to create a text script. Based on the script, Designium’s illustrators draw the storyboard and make it concrete. Then, engineers and designers review the storyboard to figure out the functions, tools and specific design details needed for the app. The final stage is production. During the production phase, the app goes through continuous testing and revision until it is ready for external testing.
■ Collaborate with IN3D
IN3D’s Avatar SDK is used to generate the 3D model of people in “Measuranimal”. IN3D launched a new service in January 2023, the avatar platform “Avaturn”. Designium is proud to be one of the IN3D partners facilitating the development of a wide range of use cases using the Avatar SDK and will act as a sales agent in Japan.
