Don’t worry followers, our team is still hard at work on our #designPOK100 challenge. As mentioned before, our team is made up of a group of people who all like to stay busy and are involved with a diverse set of groups and activities both inside and outside of work. Want a peek into what it’s like hustling hard all day every day?

Our very own Yasmine, hard at work.

In order to stay creative and motivated, we all have many interests outside of our day job that inspire us and help us bring more ingenuity into everything we do. In addition to our #designPOK100 challenge, members of our team spend their off hours on a wide variety of activities and events.

What keeps Adaoha inspired and excited?

Bollywood movies, Korean dramas, and MORE Korean drams! If you’re looking for some recommendations, Adaoha is your go-to. Right now, she’s currently watching 천상의 약속 “Heaven’s Promise” — Ep 71 out of 102.

In addition to her movies and dramas, Adoaha finds inspiration and happiness in afros and curly hair, afrobeats, plenty of prints and patterns, and can appreciate the squishiness of a good stress ball. As most of us do, Adaoha also enjoys eating, but especially eating banana bread. Speaking of banana bread…

What keeps Ann inspired and excited?

Our resident kickass baker, Ann enjoys spending her time baking some kickass banana bread, cross stitching sassy sayings into cute decor, and watching America’s favorite show (I have zero research to back up that claim), Bachelor in Paradise!

Ann finds inspiration in her favorite animal, the sea otter, as well as sunflowers, fluffy blankets and spending too much time on Pinterest, which I’m pretty sure isn’t actually possible. One of her biggest sources of inspiration is her world traveling where she meets new people, sees new places, and learns new party tricks from other cultures.

Ann recently returned from Ireland where she learned to pour the perfect Guinness.

What keeps Yasmine inspired and excited?

What about our intern who started all of this? Full of excitement and inspiration all the time, Yasmine draws from the many books she is reading at any one time. Currently, she is working to expand her knowledge in HCI, design, and spiritual enlightenment through reads such as Creative Confidence, 52 Small Changes for the Mind, and The Digital Divide.

In addition to her extensive reading list, Yasmine enjoys staying busy with involvement in the redesign of the NYIT chapter of the NSBE website, hackathons like Ujaamathon (where she won second place!!) and volunteering her time as a mentor for PixieHacks. Remember when I said our team likes to stay busy? Yeah. I wasn’t kidding!

What keeps Theresa inspired and excited?

As for Theresa, many people will know she gets excited by all things sports. Whether it’s cheering on (or crying about) the New York Mets, volunteering for the best soccer team in the NPSL, Stockade FC, or trying to see a game in every MLB stadium, she is happiest when surrounded by screaming fans rooting together for a win.

For that reason, Theresa finds plenty of inspiration from some of her favorite athletes and underdogs. When Bartolo Colon hit his first home run at the age of 42, she decided that meant she could do anything she put her mind to. Theresa also finds plenty of creative inspiration from being in the outdoors fishing, hiking, and running with her dog.

Whether it be Korean dramas, sea otters, plenty of educational literature, or long walks with your dog, what keeps you inspired and excited about your work? Let us know by tweeting at us with the hashtag #designPOK100 or if you’re not sure what it is, feel free to take some tips from our team, grab an extra squishy stress ball, and find your inspiration!

Xoxo,

The DesignersAtPOK

As always, our challenge submissions, inspirations, and views represent only our own, awesome views!
