Entering the “Real World” as a Designer

As an adjunct design professor, I get to see the skills that make or break students’ ventures into the “real” world. While it would be easy to say that designers with so-called “natural” talent go far, this isn’t always the case. I often see talented designers struggle to get work while mediocre designers land steady employment, day one.
