Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience,” in New York is a 20,000-square-foot light and sound show with two-story projections of the artist’s most striking masterpieces. In a 360-degree exhibit of epic proportions, one can experience the brilliance of one of history’s greatest artists. I chose this because, as someone who has no interest in art, I was awestruck and amazed by how Van Gogh’s art was brought to life in unconventional ways. The Immersive Experience includes a one-of-a-kind Virtual Reality interactive that takes you on a journey through “A Day in the Artist’s Life.”Walk alongside Van Gogh during this peaceful, visually rich journey to discover the inspiration behind eight of his iconic works, including: Vincent’s Bedroom at Arles, and Starry Night Over The Rhone River

It was fantastic!! Even if you are unfamiliar with Vincent Van Gogh or any of his works of art, I believe you will enjoy the show. Simply described, it’s a light show accompanied by music including some of Van Gogh’s most famous works of art. Until it starts repeating the songs, the program lasts roughly 37 minutes. Visitors are immersed by 38 massive displays for those minutes, while shifting aspects of the artist’s works emerge with a classical music soundtrack. The addition of pertinent quotations from Vincent’s letters, displayed on a screen, really brings the event to life.exhibitions highlight van Gogh as a lone, anguished genius rather than a historical person, and both imply that his broad outlines and non-local color were a spontaneous outpouring of his soul through their editing and display. If one goes to see “Starry Night” at MoMA or “The Night Café” at Yale University Art Gallery, one can spend as much time in examining van Gogh’s mastery of texture of colors that gives his paintings the anxious, shuddering quality But in the immersive experience these wall-size screen savers, paintings came to life through motion: dancing brush strokes, falling leaves, gurgling water flapping crows etc.

This immersive experience so very well aligns with my course, to look at a situation or problem from a different perspective and angle. What are the hidden motivations or inspirations in a person’s work? How a blend of technology and art can mean different things to diverse people
