Today, you are going to understand what Image processing is all about, What are its types? How does it work? What are its benefits and why image processing is the new present and the future?

Welcome to a place where you will learn everything about image processing in detail. Let us begin.

What is Image Processing?

You may be wondering what is image processing. Well, in simple words, ‘Image Processing’ is a process in which you can improve the quality of your photos or images and also record and store useful information about that image.

Who doesn’t like high-quality photos? it is just so amazing to look at. This process can give your dear old images the required sharpness and clarity they deserve and bring them back to life.

It is said that a picture speaks a thousand words. And a clear, sharp image is just meant for that quote.

Types of Image Processing:

Image processing is mainly of two types

  1. Analog Image Processing
  2. Digital Image Processing

The most popular type is digital image processing. The reason for that is because it is cheaper in price, faster in storing and retrieval of the image is easy. It also removes all the unwanted noise and eruption from the image, giving a clean and sharp view.

While on the other hand, Analog processing as the name suggests is applied to Analog signals and it can only process 2-Dimensional signals, which sometimes becomes difficult.

Steps involved in Image Processing:

There are basically 6 important steps which are needed for image processing, which are as follows:

1) Attaining the Image; which is obvious

2) Image Enhancement

3) Image Restoration

4) Color Image processing

5) Multi-resolution processing

6) Compression

Benefits of Image Processing:

Image processing has some very clear advantages, such as they give your image the required sharpness, accuracy and speed.

It provides detailed information about the image as output or a compressed high-quality image that could be shared easily across the network.

Applications of Image processing:

Image processing is used and applied in various industries for various purposes. It is used in cameras for video or image clarification so that it can capture accurate and sharp images.

In the medical industry, for viewing tiny microscopic activity, to get correct analyzation of different body parts.

In-display screens, TV’s, monitors and others. Image processing is also used in AI recognition and in a lot of other applications as well.

Everybody knows that Artificial Intelligence is the future and knowing that image processing is used in AI recognition, the future demands this process to become its part. It will be improved but will exist for a long time, until something better than this comes up.

*Bonus fact:

For sticking till the end, you have earned yourself a bonus fact about Image Processing. Enjoy.

· Image processing beats the traditional binary processing which couldn’t recognize the different color contrast of images, because of its “color image processing” property.

Until next time:)
