Valencia has many transit options and we managed to use almost all of them on Day 43.

We love the Awesome Flat, and its proximity to the beach. The quiet Spanish neighborhood of Malvarrosa is also totes* our speed with regular people living their lives rather than a press of tourists roaming around. The one point against it is the distance between it and many of the things we want to do, so we’re getting very practiced at public transit.

  • Feet: we walked from the Awesome Flat to the tram stop (and Bill got to walk back again because I forgot my mask so only one of us could board), from Dream Coffee to El Corte Ingles (it’s one of the few things open on a Sunday), and ultimately from the tram stop back home again. Bill also walked down to the beach so at least one of us saw the water yesterday.
Farewell, Hobbit House, and thanks for the memories!
When public transit is too efficient and you need to waste some time before the cafe open, you may find yourself bird watching from a park bench.
Best coffee date ever.
Discovering impressive gardens and statues rarely happens by bus/tram/metro
  • Tram: Lines 6 and 4 come down here to Malvarrosa and give us access to the rest of Valencia. While we’ve got several bus lines that stop within a block or so of home, sometimes the tram is the more efficient way to go. I took the tram from Malvarrosa to Rascanya, and we got back on the tram by transferring at Benimaclet to get home from City Center.
  • Bike: Bill rode from the Awesome Flat to the Hobbit House, showing his growing prowess at navigating Valencia by bike.
  • Metro: When we were finished at El Corte Ingles we stocked up on rides at the kiosk in the station and headed in the direction of home. Benimaclet (mentioned above) is our most common transfer spot. One of these times we’re going to need to explore that area instead of just getting on the next tram.
* I have totes been speaking Valenciano for YEARS!

Valencia is said to be a very walkable city. That plus the extensive bike infrastructure and the well-connected public transit system is a big part of why we chose to land here. Yesterday showed we made a good decision.
