Desmos Mainnet is coming!

After two years of hard work, we will launch Desmos mainnet on 31st August 2021! Please support us and follow our Twitter’s announcement here. This post is to give you a quick update on our progress.

Preparing for the mainnet

We seem silent but we have focused on building new things or improving on existing works to prepare for Desmos mainnet. They are all open-source and feel free to use and give us feedback:

• Desmos Account Manager, or DAM (GitHub), a wallet that supports Linux, macOS, iOS, Android and Windows that manages Desmos Profile utilizing Cosmos Rust Wallet. DAM is being used for the address generator for the upcoming DSM hodlers.
• Desmos Ledger App (how to guide): we chose to develop Desmos Ledger App as soon as possible instead of after mainnet to provide a better experience for DSM hodlers (GitHub).
• Big Dipper 2.0, which is a complete upgrade of the codebase and design of the current Big Dipper to repay its technical debt and provide a far better DX and UX (GitHub).

Building decentralized social networks

We have also built various things to foster decentralized social networks. These are some examples:

• Themis: set of APIs and oracle scripts running on Band Protocol which is used by to verify users’ profiles on various social networks (GitHub).
• Juno: a universal chain parser for any IBC compatible Cosmos based chains which is based on the work of Interchain engineer Aleksandr Bezobuchuk (funded by ICF’s grant, GitHub).
• Tank: Privacy-first personality AI model trainer built on Oasis Protocol. It is the 2nd runner up of Oasis Foundation’s Quest for ROSE hackathon (GitHub).
• Cosmos Rust Wallet: a set of packages that sign transactions on Cosmos SDK-based chains on multiple platforms (GitHub).

Fund raised

Desmos has raised $3M from from over 150 backers. We have not yet obtained the support from institutional investors and this may be a good thing. Forbole, which is the initial contributor and core development team of the project, will provide full support to bring Desmos to fruition.
