Desmos Network’s main achievement is to provide the ultimate protocol to build a new generation of social networks for a free and open web3. After more than two years of great effort, we are now ready to present our work and push forward the wide adoption of our tool stack. Creativity, study, and experience were combined together to bring Desmos Protocol to life.

Desmos Profile: a decentralized identity

The first feature for end users we released with the launch of Desmos mainnet in August 2021 is Desmos Profile. It is an anonymous decentralized identity across various blockchains based on Cosmos SDK. You may already be familiar with the Google single sign-on. Now, imagine the same concept of SSI but being merged with blockchain technology to create a novel way to identify ourselves in the web3 without the need for verification of a centralized authority.

Desmos Profile User Interface

Desmos Profile is customizable and cross-chain

Everyone will be able to create their profile using a Desmos account, made up of a nickname, a profile picture, a cover, and a bio. A Desmos Profile has the unique property of being able to be linked to different kinds of decentralized or centralized web platforms. We can verify the ownership of any account in a fast, secure, and decentralized fashion. At the same time, Desmos Profile is a $DSM native wallet which makes it possible to manage tokens.

Chain Connections

We’re not asking for your sensible data

As members of the Desmos community, we genuinely believe in a new generation of social networks which are more responsible and user-centric. They should give back to users the power they deserve to have. Users should have their final say on how their personal data will be handled and for what purpose. No shady agreements with third parties will ever take place.

The future of social media is decentralized

One of the most exciting characteristics of Desmos is that its protocol is not only designed for building decentralized social networks but it also supports other types of web platforms which can use our innovative decentralized social networking features to serve their users better and improve users’ stickiness and engagement in this web3 era.

This characteristic opens up possibilities for more collaborations between different projects. Imagine, a web2 Reddit-alike web portal can leverage Desmos to serve its users in a web3 way: anonymously verifiable discussion. A web2 fashion forum can incentivize user-generated content, content curators, or even raters of these curators to grow its forum with quality content provided by engaging users. Desmos will always be an open-source project to bring us more collaborations, more integrations, and more revolutions.
