Path to Desmos Mainnet

Everything you need to know about our incoming first mainnet

At the end of April we successfully launched Morpheus “Apollo”, our last testnet before the incoming mainnet. The start was quite an experience: over 100 validators coming online during a span of 1 hour and 46 minutes for one of the biggest non-incentivized testnet launches in the history of the Cosmos ecosystem.

Since then we’ve discovered some small bugs that were present inside the Desmos version used for the launch, and released new versions of the software that fix them.

Aside from this, we’ve also launched our new BigDipper explorer. This brings a lot of improvements as well as new features, all wrapped in a better user experience.

Now, after we’ve accomplished all of this, we think we are ready to lay down the path to the first Desmos mainnet.

KYC submission for Desmos Primer and Desmos Validators Program ✅

The first thing we need to do is collect all the Know Your Customer (KYC) informations from Desmos Primer and Desmos Validators Program participants. This will allow us to allocate to them the expected amount of tokens inside the mainnet genesis state, so that they will be able to delegate them immediately and start earning staking rewards.

This process has closed yesterday Sunday May 9th at 13:00 UTC.

If you took part to either one of the incentivized programs, please make sure you submit your information by going on our KYC website.

Genesis accounts creation 👥

The second step will be done by our team. We will take care of gathering all the submitted data and, from there, generate the proposed genesis state of the mainnet. Such state will include all the accounts from private sales investors, Desmos Primer and Desmos Validator Program participants.

Once the genesis is ready, we will ask everyone to confirm their allocation, so that if something is not correct we can fix it.

Genesis transaction submission 📤

Next, it will be time for people to submit their genesis transaction if they want to be a mainnet validator. This will be possible only if you already own some tokens and your balance inside the genesis has been confirmed properly.

You will not be able to create a genesis validator without having a token allocation assigned to your account.

This process will run from Monday May 17th until Friday 21st May.

Genesis creation and chain start 📜

Last, the final genesis will be created and all the validators will setup their node to make sure they are ready for launch.

If all the above schedule is respected, the launch will happen on Tuesday May 25th at 13:00 UTC.

Final remarks

We would like to invite all the future mainnet validators to join our Discord server and the dedicated chat. We will use such server to notify everyone of incoming events that they will need to take part, or things that they will have to do to get ready.

We would like to thank anyone that has supported us until now, from our first Desmos Primer participant to our last Morpheus “Apollo” validator. It was crazy to see how the community grew from a handful of people to almost 1,000 users and we could have never archived what we did without all your support. We can’t wait to launch this mainnet and celebrate with you all the beginning of a new social networks era 🥳.
