Virtuality Continuum is mixing reality with digital content, from one side being the real world mixed with a little of digital content, such as Pokemon Go that uses AR, where on the other end, is being completely immersed in VR.

AR (Augmented Reality)

  • Mixing the users environment with digital content. Usually using a smartphone’s camera, such as games like “Pokemon Go”, “Ingress”, and “ARrrrrgh”.

MR (Mixed Reality)

-Real physical objects interact with digital objects, mixing between AR and VR. Like AR, MR uses the real environment, but MR interacts with the objects, instead of using them just as a base. For example, in AR, if you were to see a digital ball on the ground in front of you, you would not be able to pick up that ball. But in MR, you can interact with the ball, such as pick it up and throw it.

VR (Virtual Reality)

-This is where you are immersed in a virtual world, with no interaction with the real world and environment. Although you are not quite fully immersed, which would include all of your senses reacting to the virtual world, it is the furthest technology has got but is continuing to grow.

XR (Extended Reality)

  • Powerpoint on Acid??
  • Combining AR, VR, and MR together, making it easier for people to learn. It provides the bridge between people that are across the world and where you are right now.
  • It provides opportunities for businesses to lower costs and increase productivity
  • Wayfair and Ikea have already implemented this technology
