Type: This would be an AR experience. The audio would enhance the user’s experience in the real world environment.
Overview: The idea behind this is to help product designers and those interested in human stories, gain empathy and understanding for others. Product Designers would give the app to their spotlight individual (users) to record their thoughts in their daily lives. The app will save the audio files and record the GPS locations, automatically creating an XR experience from the input. The Product Designers could then retrace the individual’s footsteps, triggering the audio thoughts as the user would have them. After completing this XR experience, the designers will have gained greater empathy and understanding for the people in these experiences-much more than they would have from research studies and reading articles. Ultimately, this greater understanding and empathy for the spotlight individuals would transform into better user experiences designed by these product designers.
Pothole Project
An innovative XR solution to help ease our nations pothole epidemic.
Type: An AR experience combining cameras, location tracking, digital rendering, and AI automation.
Overview: A camera scanner will be mounted to the front or rear of vehicles, and it will scan the road during the day-to-day life of the vehicle’s owner. When it detects a pothole, the scan will capture the depth, width, and location of the pothole. This data will be used to automatically create a severity of damage index. A digital model of the pothole will be rendered with AI 3D software to help road engineers visualize what needs to be accomplished to patch and fix the roadway. The entire process will happen in a mater of minutes. Once the data, location, severity index and model have been collected, a notification will then be sent to the city office managing road maintenance. This office will have access to the overall pothole management mapping system, where all active potholes will be visually displayed on an interactive map. The management system will help facilitate sending out patch crews, prioritizing patches based on the severity index, an productivity rate (ex. if there are lots of medium severity holes in a single area, this might be more of a priority than sending a crew to fix a single high severity pothole at one location).

Type: An AR experience using a phone camera / scanner to create an AR view.
Overview: XR Closet will scan clothes which you can add to your digital closet to help you plan your perfect outfit. It will also enhance your shopping experience by (practically) eliminating the need to use dirty fitting rooms to try on clothes before purchasing. After selecting clothes from your digital closet, or scanning them in store, you can view how they will look on you, by using the XR Closet AR viewer. Simply stand in front of a mirror and hold up your phone as if you were taking a “mirror selfie”. Your selected outfit will be displayed in real-time overlaid in the camera. Take a picture to save and compare with other outfit possibilities and combinations; or you can move around to see how the outfit will fit your unique shape! The XR Closet uses advanced scanning technology to help give you the best and most accurate view and size recommendation for clothing without having to actually try them on. No more returns!
XR Closet will use the technology behind Fitle’s and Pictofit’s digital avatars to create your personalized avatar and unique size to help with clothing size recommendations.
XR Closet will use the same technology used in 3D scanner apps like 3D Scanner Pro, to scan clothing directly from your closet or the store; XR Closet doesn’t limit you to specific name brands, any clothes existing in the real world, can exist in the XR Closet.
Finally, XR Closet will use sensor tracking to track your movements, while using the AR viewer to move the digital clothing with your real-time motion. All this combines, to deliver a unique, simplified, and helpful fashion experience.
