Tutorial #1 — Archery Game Series
What did you learn?
Through this tutorial I learned how to:
- import an existing file
- create a timeline
- what a controller is and how to add a new one
- create an animation on a timeline
- write/ create script
- how to create a channel that will hide a layer(s) with just a click of a button (states)
- how to make an object relative to something else
- Create a trigger region
- add a transition to the actions created in a timeline
- manipulate reference properties
- create an event handler
- add items to media library
- add symbols to symbol definition
- create labels in a timeline
What was confusing?
I think the hardest part of this tutorial was following along with the videos. The videos moved so quickly and he would do the actions super quick as well making it hard to follow along. The other problem I had was creating a keyframe on a timeline object that didn’t have anything on it. The tutorial said to right click and a menu would pop up for me to add the key frame but it for some reason wouldn’t work so for this step I had to work backwards from the tutorial.
What was the outcome? (success or failure).
I think this tutorial was an overall success. There were definitely a few hiccups but all in all I was able to follow along with the videos and accomplish what the end goal was.
Tutorial #2 — Opening Transition: Sliding Door
What did you learn?
Through this tutorial I learned how to:
- I learned that in order to create an animation where it splits you have to have two separate pictures (top half and bottom half).
- change the layer mode
- add a color property
What was confusing?
Being that this was my second tutorial that I reviewed it was very different from the first because it have no video aide to assist but had all text instructions instead with a few pictures to help. Although the videos went quick I feel like they were way clearer to understand then the instructions being written out. Even though this was a beginner level of difficulty, if I hadn’t done the other tutorial I would have been way more confused while doing this one.
What was the outcome? (success or failure).
The outcome was a success but I was not a huge fan of this tutorial.
