Q&A — Destination Code

An early-bird listee for http://destination.codes sent in a few questions, and I felt it would be beneficial to share these questions and answers with anyone else who had them.

Very excited for this. I was just wondering when the links expire. Will we know what the talks are before they do? I’m trying to sell the idea of going to this conference to my boss, but it’s a bit tough without know what the talks will be.

Thanks for the questions!

As far as expiration, there is none, there is only a limited supply of tickets — those on the waitlist receive access first.

Will we know what the talks are before they do?

We’re going to have workshops done by each mentor — I’ll share more about what each person is discussing in blog posts and interviews like the one I put up on the Medium Publication, but suffice to say that the mentor’s aren’t the only ones we focus on at Destination Code — hence the description “unconf” :)

Here’s what each person plans to primarily focus on:

• John Saddington — Personal career navigation, leadership, iOS development, lessons learned on making http://desk.pm.
• Stephen Kraig — Understanding hardware development for software engineers; creating an automated micro-brewing system at home; lessons learned as a PCB manufacturer.
• Sharon Steed — team dynamics on software teams
• Roby Fitzhenry — User Interface Design for Developers; lessons-learned starting his own publications and businesses

I’ll also (yet unreleased) be setting up a call for Lightning Talks. For example, I’ll give a talk about physics simulations in the browser with ES6 and Canvas.
