Main Street during the summer is always filled with people taking a stroll. (Odyssey/ Kelley Lewis)

Ada, Ohio is a small quaint town with a population of just under 6,000. With one Main Street, the village is a quiet place where the community knows everyone. However, this town has a secret. It is home to Ohio Northern University.

Ohio Northern University lies in the northern part of Ada. The University is made up of five colleges (Arts and Science, Business, Pharmacy, Engineering and Law). For being a notably small University, during the school year, the University’s population more than doubles the Village’s population.

For someone who is on a “college tour” Ada, Ohio could seem very boring when compared to Columbus, Ohio. However, don’t let the small town fool you. There are actually several things that make this Village unique.

First, Ada is home to the Wilson Football Factory. Located in the heart of Ada is the factory that makes the Super Bowl football. In fact, for the past two years, the village has put on a festival on the eve of the Super Bowl to celebrate their hard work and to share it with the community.

Just on the outskirts of town lies the second item on the list, Norda Lanes. Norda Lanes is a bowling alley that is south of the village. Many college students and villagers will travel to the bowling alley for a fun evening with their friends. Although this may sound like a boring activity compared to other things you could do, many students will tell you that the bowling is surprisingly fun.

Of course, there are always things to do on the campus of Ohio Northern University. Each weekend the campus has sporting events and activities for people of all ages. From movies on the tundra to musical events, the campus is never quiet, unless it is dead week (the week before finals).

Ada, Ohio is a quaint town in Midwestern Ohio. There are no skyscrapers and the only way to get to the village is by driving. However, don’t be fooled there is much more to the village then meets the eye.

So, get into your car and take a road trip to Ada. You never know what adventures await.
