Some cities have it all. They offer great shopping areas along with breathtaking sites. If you enjoy the great outdoors but still long for everything the big city has to offer, Denver is the destination for you.

Denver, Colorado is the most populated city in Colorado. Located in the South Platte River Valley the city sits exactly one mile above sea level, gaining the nickname the Mile High City. Denver is the highest, in elevation, major city in the United States.

Denver was founded in 1858 during the Peak Gold Rush. The Colorado Territory was created in February of 1861. By 1867 Denver was declared the capital of the territory and in 1876 the state became part of the union. The city experienced great wealth when the railroad finally reached the city. Millions of people began traveling out west to make their home.

Those who travel to Denver often go to hike the mountains that surround the city. Lookout Mountain one of the most traveled to mountains outside of the city. While hiking, tourist experience breathtaking views throughout their hike.

Denver is most notably home to the Denver Broncos, a National Football League team. The Broncos draw in over 70,000 sports fans since their creation in the 1960s. The city is also home to three other major sports teams. The Colorado Rockies, major league football team, Denver Nuggets, basketball team, and Colorado Avalanche, hockey.

Denver is a city for those who love being outside. Located in the midst of mountains those who travel to the city can experience mother nature and all the things she has to offer.
