Our next destination is a great weekend getaway for you and your group of friends. The city is up and coming and is working to attract the younger demographic.

Fort Wayne, Indiana is located in the eastern part of Indiana. Fort Wayne has over 200,000 residents making it the second biggest city in the state of Indiana.

Fort Wayne was founded in 1794. The city was originally a fort created by the United States Army as part of a number of forts created after the American Revolution. To honor the General who conducted the building of the fort the fort was named after him and a settlement began in its place.

Every spring thousands of women flock to Fort Wayne, Indiana. During one weekend in the month of April, the annual Vera Bradley Outlet Sale is held in the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. People from all over the United States travel to Fort Wayne to take part in the festivities and to go home with new bags, shoes and accessories for every occasion.

If shopping isn’t your thing, Fort Wayne offers a wide range of activities to enjoy. Just an hour drive from the city are the Indiana Dunes that locals travel to during the summer months to enjoy some time in water and sand.
