There are many people who love history. They love everything about the “good ole days.” They enjoy learning about what life was like without cell phones, computers and cars. Thankfully our next destination allows some people to enjoy a weekend getaway without some of the modern day technology.

Holmes County, Ohio is located in the eastern part of the state of Ohio. The county is approximately 80 percent Amish which means that the county is the second largest Amish community in the United States, second to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Those who visit Holmes County, Ohio are able to enjoy a peaceful vacation without the noises of modern day. Here people can enjoy delicious home cooked meals and purchase items made by the Amish community members. From children’s toys to furniture after you leave this destination you may need a truck to pull all of your goodies.

If you choose to visit Holmes County are there many places to stay along the way. Many well-known hotel chains have sprung up around the area along with local Bed and Breakfast locations to help with the vibe of your desired vacation.
