If you love horses then you will love the next destination. Our next destination vacation takes place in a southern state that is known for an event that takes place once every year, the annual Kentucky Derby.

Louisville, Kentucky is the largest city in the state and the 29th most populated city in the United States. The city was founded by George Rogers Clark in 1778 and was named after King Louis XVI of France. Louisville is believed to be one of the oldest cities in the Appalachian regions.

Those who travel to Louisville often do so because of the annual Kentucky Derby. Every May the Kentucky Derby happens in Louisville. After the event, there are celebrations within the city for the next two weeks, the Kentucky Derby Festival. During the festival is the annual Thunder Over Louisville firework show, which is the largest annual firework display in the United States.

Louisville is not only for horse lovers but also known for the beautiful town and charming people. Those who travel to Louisville can do a number of activities from attending a sporting event to enjoying a night on the town.
