A big city with rolling hills can make a beautiful picture and an even better vacation. Our next destination is a beautiful big city with slightly smaller hills than what most people think of.

San Francisco, California is one of the most well-known cities in the United States. San Francisco is the fourth most populated city in the United States with over 800,000 residents. Many people flock to this coastal city because of the well-known Bay Area.

San Francisco was founded in June 1776 by Spanish colonists. However, it wasn’t until the California Gold Rush in 1849 that people began flocking to the city. In 1906 the city was destroyed by a massive earthquake followed by a fire. But the city rebuilt and thrived because of it.

The California city has been home to many movements throughout its history. Movements like the Sexual Revolution and Peace Movement caused the city to become a major place for hippies to call home.

Those who travel to San Francisco can enjoy a number of activities. The major for of fun are the beaches and parks that can be found throughout the city. The Golden Gate National Recreation Area is one of the most visited National Parks in the United States.
