The Grand Canyon is a national park located in Arizona. The canyon is said to have been carved by the Colorado River. Spanning 277 miles long and 4 to 18 miles wide the size of the canyon continues to amaze scientist.

Scientists have been able to date the geological history of the Grand Canyon and Colorado River two billion years. Thanks to modern technology scientist found Native American artifacts within the canyon. The Pueblo people believed that the canyon was a holy site and would often travel to the site. The first known European to have seen the Grand Canyon was from Spain in 1540.

Today, the Grand Canyon is one of the top National Parks that attracts more than five million people each year. Those who vacation to the canyon can enjoy a wide range of activities. In addition to sightseeing from the lookout, people can skydive, raft, hike, run and helicopter through the canyon.

Those who enjoy camping can enjoy a hike down the canyon while camping on the North and South rims of the canyon. Those who suffer from health problems should use caution when planning a hike.
