Just 35-minutes by ferry from Auckland City lies the jewel of the Hauraki Gulf, Waiheke Island. Join us on one of the world’s best islands as voted by Conde Nast readers. An idyllic paradise where the locals are friendly, warm, caring, welcoming, and eco-focused.

With so many things to do, see, and experience — we recommend extending your stay so you can pause and relax at some of the most stunning locations. See below as I share in on three top things to see and do!

Featured: Mudbrick Vineyard & Restaurant

1 Mudbrick Vineyard & Restaurant - Waiheke is often described as “Tuscany by the sea”, with so many beaches and world-famous vineyards to enjoy. Mudbrick Vineyards fits into that description beautifully and should be on the top of your list when visiting. After a tasting experience from the cellar door, enjoy a gastronomical lunch or dinner from two onsite restaurants (or privately from two dining rooms) and then “wine down” with a glass of their award-winning reds on the cellar rooftop. It’s too easy to spend the day basking in stunning views across their manicured potager gardens and Hauraki Gulf to Auckland city.

Featured: Timmy Smith

2 Timmy Smith - overlooking idyllic Oneroa Bay stands a gorgeous wee studio in the heart of Waiheke’s main village. Timmy Smith is a space where people come together and connect over a cuppa (all organic and even a cold sparkling brew if that is your preferred tipple) and memory-evoking jewellery (especially pieces that incorporate sand from Waiheke’s beaches). The sugar-free sparkling botanical and herbal refreshments “Pause for Tea” is a personal favourite and you can now find served in many of the restaurants and stores. You must make it your mission to pop in and be inspired by the comforts of Timmy and the team.

Featured: Tantalus Estate

3 Tantalus Estate - as you make your way across the island, my last favourite spot has to be Tantalus Estate. Not just for their stunning Cellar Door, The Estate Restaurant, Alibi Brewer’s Lounge, or private dining room The Decanter Room but their Wetlands Walk. This hidden gem is located on their 8.3-hectare property. The walk features a stunning boardwalk that winds through the forest and inhabits a variety of new and existing native fauna and flora, birds, and insects. When you’re next on Waiheke, don’t forget to visit Tantalus Estate and see this stunning spot (and a meticulously brewed craft beer too!).

There is nowhere in this part of the world that offers such a magical menu of amazing events, incredible conferences, and extraordinary activities than Waiheke Island.

As the island’s premier event organizers we bring over 20 years of local knowledge and networking to ensure your next event is a truly amazing Waiheke Island experience. Get in touch for free event planning and we can start orchestrating your next trip, so you can start exploring the best of Auckland!
