DESTINY DECODED SERIES

IN STORES NOW: http://td.je/destinybn

Over the next 3 weeks, we will be taking an in-depth look at Destiny as guided by Bishop T.D. Jakes’ extremely popular sermon series.

Part 7 of 18

Time Stamp: 1:38–4:47

Take a look at all the people around you. If you look closely enough, you will see the people who aspire to be more and are actually doing something about it. Now, if you can peer just a bit closer at this group, you will see what lies beneath the surface. Most notably, you will see two underlying categories in which these people fall. You will see the people who have their hands in everything, trying to make something work. Opposite that group, you will see another group of people who are focusing on one thing — their gift. They are constantly working on that one thing God has given them.

There is a scripture I always refer back to when I’m teaching:

“His master said, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness.” — Matthew 25:21, NIV

This scripture speaks blatantly about becoming proficient at the task before you, not shotgunning your talents to see what sticks and pursuing every avenue that seems interesting or advantageous to you. No, God has given each of us a specific gift that will bring us before great men. What a tragedy it would be to run after everything, having influence in every area, but miss the one thing in which you would be great. You would turn around to see the wasted amount of energy you’ve expended in pursuing everything could have been better spent in perfecting the one gift you have. In addition, you might discover that your one gift that would open every door before you required far less energy than you expelled!

Too many of us are scattered like too little butter over too much bread.

It’s time to focus.

If your Creator gave you a specific gift, why would you expend energy in areas that have not been given to you to master? Many of us are perishing on the level of influence God has given us because we have not perfected the main skill imputed to us at birth! If we’ve not yet mastered our own level with the footmen, how can we expect to run with horses?

In order for us to realize our destiny, we must keep first things first. We must run our own race.In order to be made ruler over many things, we must first be faithful over a few things.
