Tyler Blevins, better known as “Ninja”, has publicly announced his decision to start streaming exclusively on Mixer. Ninja is a 28-years old professional Battle Royale Player player who is currently playing Fortnite and Apex Legends. TheVerge quotes both Twitch (with positive “goodbyes”) and Mixer (with equally positive “welcomes”), as well as Ninja himself saying that he is “freaking out in the best ways and feel like … going to get back to the streaming roots”.

Tyler’s channel on YouTube features over 22mn subscribers, his Twitch page had over 14mn followers. The announcement has attracted the new Mixer streaming star around 4mn people to his channel within 3 days. This is quite an achievement, given that Similarweb metrics give the website less than 30mn monthly viewers.

“We see competition between streaming platforms building up,” says DeStream CFO Tachat Igityan. “This move by Ninja is a notable illustration to talent acquisition policy streaming companies imply in their combats with peers. You can draw a parallel between Netflix and HBO exclusively purchasing new series to anchor the audience, and streaming platforms contracting star streamers to lure in their fans,” he adds.
