Content creators get more and more self-aware in terms of social responsibility. Writers, vloggers, streamers, podcast stars and other people who earn a living (or at least public acclaim) by going live online tend to focus more on sustainability and social issues which include rights protection, minorities, environmental issues and charity. This trend gets clear these days, and DeStream acts accordingly — not only we watch closely as content creators present new promising initiatives, but we adjust our product so that it reflected this new reality.

Why did streaming community get this self-consciousness? “Content creators start putting together a more solidified community, and this community calls for all normal behavioral codes: ethics, protection of the weakest and giving pledges,” says DeStream CEO Anar Mekhtiev, “and, as society turns more and more focused on sustainability issues globally, we see a growing demand for good deeds by those who have the attention of millions,” he adds.

This trend has been confirmed by multiple cases widely aired and discussed in the media beyond the traditions streaming outlets. For example, a sad case of the professional video game streamer Natalia Mogollon — better known by her handle Alinity Divine — and he cat throwing was reviewed by the traditional industry press and TheVerge.

We in DeStream believe that it is important to have the message delivered, and we will be preparing a series of articles to discuss what is important for streamer’s public appearance (or at least a broad guideline for those involved). Keep an eye on our blog and media publications to know more, and don’t hesitate to share your opinions on what’s right and wrong!

More details can be found on our website. We support a Telegram group to discuss all recent developments of the project. More news and opinions from DeStream can be found on our Twitter and Facebook, so feel free to follow and comment.

And don’t forget to clap if you found our Medium publications useful!
