Team Social: Revolución de Cuba

With the balmy warm weather of Birmingham and the guys’ coding on fire, it was time for the team to chill, with a taste of South America at Havana at Revolución de Cuba.

I must confess, my previous and only Cuban restaurant experience had not gone well, it turned out to be a three hour peer pressure salsa dancing lesson ordeal, resulting in a swift vow on my part to boycott the “cuisine” from that moment on.

Atmosphere

Despite my prejudice, upon arrival, the first thing that hit me was the atmosphere, buzzing with energy — a true South American feel.

From the huge folding windows, for once providing a wanted hill top cool breeze in Birmingham, to the happy chit chat of friends and the tactile clicking sounds from quality finishings, there really was an authentic summer vibe.

Food

The food: Tapas for all of us, from a sharing platter with too many dishes to mention, our top favourites were: Pork Belly Skewers, Aubergine Gratin, Gambas Pil Pil, and Chicken Quesadilla. The team also shared a good deal of laughter:

Dean says

‘The restaurant vibe brought back happy memories of Cuban holidays. Sharing platter of tapas and jokes is perfect for a team lunch”

Alex says

Charming little restaurant tucked away in the bustling streets near New Street station. I’d somehow managed to go 21 years without encountering tapas, so I was pleasantly surprised when I decided to indulge. The food and service was estupendo.

Conclusion

Revolución de Cuba oozes a summer Cuban vibe, a great place for a team to socialise.

My only complaint? On leaving I think I spotted a salsa dancing lesson leaflet. However, with luck (and considerable skill), I was able to block this dreaded view from the team.
